The problem
Intervention: Teaching Shantala massage to mothers through five online sessions with focus group discussion
Who it was tested with: Eight Brazilian mothers of infants.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"A descriptive-exploratory study in the light of Symbolic Interactionism. Eight women, mothers of infants, participated in five online meetings to teach Shantala massage, collected in focus groups, between November and December 2021." The study collected maternal perceptions through qualitative methods without measuring actual child health outcomes or having a comparison group.
Qualitative study with small sample (n=8), no control group, no objective health measurements, relies entirely on maternal perceptions and self-report. Online delivery format may have limited engagement. No follow-up period specified.
