The problem
Intervention: Exposure to improvements in childcare quality in daycare settings
Who it was tested with: Children aged 0-5 years in informal settlements across 11 counties in Kenya.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"We combine a cross-sectional observational study of child development and anthropometrics among approximately 4700 children aged 0-5 across 11 counties in Kenya with a cluster randomised controlled trial that measures the impact of improved daycare quality on these outcomes." This is a cluster randomised controlled trial design comparing exposed and control communities, placing it in the EXPERIMENTAL tier, though results are not yet available.
This is a protocol document; no results or findings are yet available. The actual outcomes and effect sizes cannot be determined from this protocol paper.
