The problem
Intervention: Treatment with gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues (GnRHa)
Who it was tested with: 82 females who had central precocious puberty or central hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis activation and had received GnRHa (mean age 17.61 years at follow-up).
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"retrospective cohort with cross-sectional follow-up assessment" and "no untreated comparison group" – outcomes were compared with baseline or predicted values only, so the design is no higher than pre-post and cannot show whether the treatment worked.
Low participation (30.9%), possible selection bias, no untreated comparison group, available-case analysis without imputation, and a single follow-up time point. The authors say the findings should not be read as causal effects of GnRHa.
