The problem
Intervention: Implementation of Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) instruction using participatory methods, contextual content, and extracurricular integration
Who it was tested with: 312 Grade V and VI students (ages approximately 10-12) across three public and private elementary schools in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"A quantitative survey design was employed, involving 312 Grade V and VI students, 24 PPKn teachers, and 9 school principals across three public and private elementary schools selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using validated Nationalism Attitude Scales (Cronbach's α = .87) and PPKn Learning Quality Inventory (α = .83), then analysed via multiple regression and structural equation modelling (SEM)." The study measured the relationship between teaching quality and nationalism attitudes in students exposed to the intervention, supporting classification as PRE_POST evidence that the intervention works.
Study uses cross-sectional design without baseline/endline comparison or control group, limiting causal inference. Single region in Indonesia restricts generalisability. Moderating variables (digital literacy, teacher competency) reduce clarity about the independent effect of the intervention itself.
