The problem
Intervention: Transcultural nursing services providing nutritionally-specific and culturally-sensitive nutritional interventions that integrate socio-cultural factors including beliefs, family support, religion, education, and local practices
Who it was tested with: 312 mothers with stunted children in three public health center areas in Indonesia.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Nutritional interventions based on transcultural nursing were proven effective in integrating social and cultural factors to enhance the success of stunting reduction." The study used SEM-PLS to model pathways showing how culturally-integrated interventions influence stunting, though the cross-sectional design limits causal inference.
Cross-sectional design lacks a comparison group and cannot establish causation. No baseline or endline measurements reported to show change over time. Study measures associations rather than intervention effectiveness directly.
