The problem
Intervention: Two rounds of multi-antigenic catch-up mass vaccination campaigns delivering OPV, PCV13, pentavalent and rotavirus vaccines
Who it was tested with: Children aged 6 weeks to 59 months in Bassikounou district and Mbera camp, Mauritania.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"Cross-sectional household VC surveys (VCS1 and VCS2) were conducted before and after the 2RMASVC." This describes a pre-post measurement design without a control group, measuring the same populations before and after the intervention to assess changes in vaccination coverage.
The study design lacks a comparison group. Coverage gains did not reach the 90-95% target. Reliance on self-reporting and vaccination cards may introduce recall bias. No information on sustainability beyond the campaign period.
