The problem
Intervention: Two-stage educational program: stage 1 provided knowledge about stunting and child nutrition; stage 2 demonstrated preparation of moringa leaf pudding
Who it was tested with: 17 mothers with toddlers in RW 16 Pepe Sidoarjo, Indonesia.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"The activity was carried out in two stages, the first stage was to provide knowledge about stunting and nutritional intake for children, the second stage was to demonstrate how to make Moringa leaf pudding. Mother's level of knowledge about stunting and child nutrition was measured using a questionnaire." This represents a pre-post design where the same group was measured before and after receiving the intervention, with results showing improvement in knowledge.
Small sample size (17 mothers) with no comparison group. No follow-up data on whether knowledge was retained or translated into behavioral changes. No measurement of actual stunting outcomes or child nutritional status. No long-term follow-up of the intervention's effects.
