The problem
Intervention: Motivated for Change programme: a continuing education and quality improvement programme using behavioural change, adult learning, and quality improvement strategies to increase staff knowledge, skills, and confidence in providing reasonable adjustments
Who it was tested with: Healthcare staff in a paediatric emergency department (131 staff in pre-survey, 89 in post-survey) and parents of children and young people with intellectual and developmental disability.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"A hundred and thirty-one and 89 staff participated in a pre- and post-intervention survey. Interviews were conducted with parents... Observational studies were also conducted in the pre- and post-intervention phase." The study measured the same population before and after the intervention with qualitative and quantitative methods but did not include a comparison group.
Pre-post design without a comparison group; specific quantitative measurements and effect sizes not provided; country/location not specified; limited parental involvement in study conduct; unclear attrition between pre (131) and post (89) surveys
