The problem
Intervention: A dedicated immunisation service at a tertiary paediatric hospital, delivering catch-up immunisation to admitted children
Who it was tested with: Children admitted to a tertiary paediatric hospital in Australia (300 admissions before and 300 after the service began).
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"This pre‐ and post‐intervention study examined 300 admissions prior to (cohort 1) and 300 following (cohort 2) the introduction of an immunisation service." Two cohorts were compared before and after the service with no concurrent comparison group, which fits the PRE_POST tier.
Before-and-after design without a concurrent control group, so other changes over time could contribute to the differences. Single hospital, with no statistical detail in the abstract.
