The problem
Intervention: Prenatal and postnatal Yoga practice including physical postures, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, meditation, and visualisation
Who it was tested with: Pregnant women, postpartum women, and high-risk pregnancies.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"Evidence generated through RCTs has shown a reduction in pain, stress, anxiety, and depression, with proven improvement in labor metrics such as comfort, pain, and length as well as stress levels and QoL, confirming beneficial impacts on anxiety, depression, perceived stress, delivery, and labor time." This demonstrates experimental study designs with measured outcomes showing Yoga effectiveness for maternal and birth-related outcomes.
The document cites multiple RCTs but does not provide detailed methodological critique, sample sizes, or funnel plot analysis for publication bias. Heterogeneity in Yoga protocols and outcome measures across studies is not addressed.
