The problem
Intervention: BEAM (Building Emotional Awareness and Mental Health): a digital and peer-supported mental health and parenting program administered by trained peer paraprofessionals
Who it was tested with: Parents and primary caregivers aged 18+ with moderate to severe symptoms of anger, anxiety, or depression residing in British Columbia or Alberta, Canada (target n=240).
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"A two-arm, single-blinded, parallel groups randomized controlled trial (RCT) with a 1:1 allocation ratio and repeated measures will be conducted in Western Canada." This is a clearly defined experimental design with comparison group and planned neuroimaging assessment, but being a protocol document, it contains no findings to evaluate effectiveness.
This is a protocol for a planned trial; no results are yet available. The study design has not yet been executed, so outcomes remain unknown.
