Intervention: Understanding the mediating role of parenting stress to inform intervention design for families with infants experiencing regulatory problems
Who it was tested with: 725 parent-child dyads in Germany, with mean infant age 5.0 months (SD = 3.4) at baseline.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"Using data from a German cohort study (CoronaBaBY), associations between infant RPs at baseline and RPs/toddlers BEPs at follow-up (around 8 months later) were analyzed. Parenting stress was included as a mediation variable into the model." This is a longitudinal observational design that measures the same group before and after without a separate comparison group, establishing temporal relationships but not causation.
This is an observational study without a comparison group or randomized design, limiting causal inference. The study measured associations over 8 months in a German cohort, and results may not generalize to other populations or longer timeframes. Additional unmeasured factors influencing infant regulatory problems were not identified.
