The problem
Intervention: Grati y la Isla de la Gratitud, an educational game-based app to enhance children's understanding and expression of gratitude
Who it was tested with: 304 children aged 9-12 from public and private schools; 17 of them interviewed.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"Using a mixed-methods, quasi-experimental design, we worked with 304 children (aged 9–12)" - the design includes a comparison (control) group, which fits the experimental tier.
Quasi-experimental, so groups may differ at the outset. The abstract gives no effect sizes or follow-up. The outcomes measured are understanding and expression of gratitude, not later well-being or behavior. The interview sample is small.
