The problem
Intervention: Assessment of vaccination coverage and identification of barriers and attitudes of Roma parents regarding vaccination to inform future health interventions
Who it was tested with: 200 Roma children aged 2-12 years in ten settlements in one prefecture of Greece.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Data were collected through the use of two structured questionnaires, which consisted of questions regarding the demographic characteristics of the Roma child population, information related to vaccination, Roma settlements, and information regarding the barriers and attitudes of Roma parents about vaccination." The study describes the current situation and identifies barriers but does not evaluate whether any intervention improves vaccination coverage.
This is a descriptive cross-sectional study without a comparison group or intervention testing, so it cannot demonstrate effectiveness of any solution. The study identifies barriers but does not test interventions to address them.
