The problem
Intervention: Educational assessment and identification of knowledge gaps; qualitative exploration of healthcare worker perceptions, practices, and barriers to ECD service delivery
Who it was tested with: 159 healthcare workers (physicians, nurses, trainees, midwives) at secondary care hospitals in Karachi, Pakistan.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"A sequential explanatory mixed-method research approach was utilized. Initially, the population of healthcare workers...was recruited to complete the CKCDI questionnaire...Subsequently, a semi-structured interview guide was employed." The study documents healthcare workers' current knowledge and practices through cross-sectional assessment rather than testing an intervention outcome.
This is a descriptive assessment study without intervention testing or comparison groups, so it cannot establish causality or effectiveness of any intervention. The study identifies the problem and barriers but does not evaluate solutions.
