The problem
Intervention: Three-month radio campaign combining 10-minute serial radio drama on vaccination, 10-minute community health worker discussion, and 30-minute phone-in discussion by listeners
Who it was tested with: All under-five children in Ethiopia (modeled for national scale based on trial in Jimma Zone).
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"A scenario modeling design using evidence from a quasi-experimental trial in two districts of Jimma Zone in Ethiopia." The study used trial evidence from a defined population and intervention to project national-level cost-effectiveness outcomes for vaccination coverage and mortality reduction.
This is a modeling and projection study, not actual implementation data. Results are based on quasi-experimental trial data from a limited geographic area and extrapolated nationally. Actual effectiveness and costs at scale cannot be verified from this study.
