The problem
Intervention: Parental time management and reduced child labour engagement
Who it was tested with: Secondary school students in Ondo State, Nigeria (n=200).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"A descriptive research design of the survey type was employed for the study. The study sample comprised 200 respondents. A self-created questionnaire named 'Child Labour, Single Parenting Questionnaire (CLSPQ)' was utilised to gather data from the participants." The study measured associations between existing conditions (child labour and single parenting status) and academic outcomes, with recommendations for improvement rather than experimental evaluation of an intervention.
Descriptive survey design without control group; no longitudinal follow-up; single state sample; causation cannot be established; potential confounding variables not controlled; study does not measure the actual intervention or its effectiveness
