The problem
Intervention: KLIK-UK: an online platform adapted from the Dutch KLIK system that enables systematic collection of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) about health-related quality of life, with results displayed to clinicians during outpatient appointments
Who it was tested with: Children aged 5–17.9 years receiving outpatient care at least 6-monthly for brain tumours diagnosed within the preceding 5 years, their parents, and clinicians at three UK children's brain tumour treatment centres.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"KLIK-UK was tested in outpatient review appointments followed by interviews with the family and clinician" and the study used "relevant PROMs identified through systematic literature review and families' views regarding choice of PROMs, communication needs within consultations." This represents a developmental and exploratory approach to test acceptability and usability of the intervention with stakeholders, which is characteristic of practitioner-level evidence focused on implementation feasibility rather than efficacy measurement.
This is a feasibility study without outcome data on whether using KLIK-UK actually improved quality of life assessment or clinical decision-making. No information provided on whether the platform was actually implemented or used during consultations. Analysis of the feasibility testing phase is incomplete in this report.
