The problem
Intervention: Exclusive breastfeeding
Who it was tested with: 100 mothers with children aged 0-59 months in Palaran, Samarinda, Indonesia.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This is an observational study with a cross-sectional approach. There were 100 mothers with young children aged 0-59 months as respondents from Palaran, Samarinda. The dependent variable was children's height-for-age nutritional status, as in normal or stunting, and the independent variable was exclusive breastfeeding." The study used Chi-square statistical testing to examine associations between breastfeeding practice and stunting status, but the cross-sectional design without a control group limits the ability to determine causation or temporal relationship.
Cross-sectional design cannot establish causation. Single location with 100 participants limits generalisability. No comparison group or longitudinal follow-up.
