The problem
Intervention: A four-module online road safety education programme, developed and evaluated with the Multiphase Optimization Strategy. It included a 'wheeling safety and skills' module.
Who it was tested with: 56 children aged 9-13.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"using a 23 factorial design featuring both qualitative and quantitative analyses" shows a factorial pilot comparing module combinations, but randomisation and a control group are not stated, so the lower tier (PRE_POST) is chosen.
Small sample of 56 children. The abstract does not say whether assignment was random or whether there was a control group. Only knowledge was measured, not behaviour or safety outcomes. Engagement was moderate.
