The problem
Intervention: A play-based coaching intervention combining the Coaching approach with the Model of Playfulness, with play moments as the centerpiece of therapeutic interaction
Who it was tested with: Mothers in post-acute stage of cancer treatment (n=6) and their children aged 2.5 to 6 years 11 months.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This embedded mixed method study will be guided by the two initial phases of the ORBIT Model for the development of behavioral interventions for patients with chronic diseases. Participants will be mothers in the post-acute treatment stage of cancer (n = 6) and their children... Phase 1B will employ in-depth semi-structured interviews and standardized tools to evaluate acceptability of the intervention and preliminary outcomes." This is a development study using qualitative and preliminary quantitative methods to design and refine an intervention before testing effectiveness.
This is a protocol or early development report, not a completed study with results. With only n=6 participants and no comparison group, any preliminary findings will have limited generalizability. The study design does not include a control group, limiting causal inference.
