The problem
Intervention: Analysis of associations between social determinants of health (child age, maternal education, insurance status, birth order, region, income-to-poverty ratio) and vaccination coverage
Who it was tested with: Children aged 19-35 months in the United States, 2010-2023.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Survey-weighted logistic regression models were used to assess associations between vaccination status and social determinants of health... Separate survey-weighted logistic regression models were fit for each survey year from 2010 to 2023." This descriptive analysis identifies disparities but does not test an intervention to close vaccination gaps.
Cross-sectional design cannot establish causation. Response rates declined significantly (70.8% to 47.7%), potentially affecting representativeness. Study is observational rather than experimental, limiting ability to determine what interventions would effectively address identified disparities.
