The problem
Intervention: Nutrition-sensitive agriculture programme integrating homestead food production, nutrition behaviour change communication, and gender-sensitive training
Who it was tested with: 1,200 households with children under five in the Ethiopian Highlands across intervention and control districts.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"A longitudinal, quasi-experimental design will be employed, with repeated surveys in 2024 (baseline) and 2026 (endline) across four intervention districts and four matched control districts." The study includes a comparison group and difference-in-differences analysis, meeting experimental design criteria, but no results are yet available to determine outcome direction.
This is a protocol document describing planned methods, not outcomes. No findings on effectiveness are yet available. The study is ongoing through 2026.
