The problem
Intervention: Educational videos focusing on nurturing care, responsive caregiving, and safety and security practices delivered to mothers of children aged 6-23 months with nutritional challenges
Who it was tested with: Seventy-three mothers and their children aged 6-23 months experiencing nutritional challenges in Indonesia, recruited through consecutive sampling.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"A quasi-experimental design with non-equivalent and untreated control groups was employed" with "dependent t-tests, independent t-tests, and repeated measures ANOVA" for analysis. The study compared an intervention group receiving videos against an untreated control group with statistical testing of differences.
Quasi-experimental design with non-equivalent groups limits causal inference. Both groups showed child growth improvements, making it difficult to isolate the video intervention's specific contribution to physical growth. Duration of intervention exposure and long-term follow-up periods not specified.
