The problem
Intervention: Measles-containing vaccine (at least one dose at or after 9 months of age, documented on the EPI card)
Who it was tested with: 150 children aged 1–5 years with clinically defined measles at Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at the Department of Paediatrics, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rawalpindi" - the design is a one-time observational comparison with no randomisation or follow-up, so it is not experimental and is placed in the lower tier.
Observational single-site design with no randomisation, so confounding is possible. Small vaccinated group, and children with incomplete vaccination records were excluded. Vaccination status was based on card documentation. The study did not follow children over time.
