The problem
Intervention: Strong Families programme: a brief, evidence-based family skills intervention developed by UNODC
Who it was tested with: 76 families with children aged 8–14 years recruited through community-based organizations in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and South Lebanon; both Lebanese and non-Lebanese participants.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"A single-arm pre-post design was employed. Seventy-six families with children aged 8–14 years were recruited through community-based organizations across Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and South Lebanon. Caregivers completed... questionnaires at baseline (T1), post-intervention (T2), and six-week follow-up (T3)." This is a pre-post measurement study without a control group; the lack of comparison condition means observed improvements cannot definitively be attributed to the intervention rather than other factors.
Single-arm design without comparison group prevents attribution of causality. High attrition reported but not quantified. Follow-up period was only six weeks, limiting assessment of sustained effects.
