The problem
Intervention: Home learning support provided by family facilitators, including organizing learning environments, providing emotional support, supplying resources, and maintaining communication
Who it was tested with: Primary grade learners in private schools in San Narciso District, Zambales, Philippines, and their 53 home learning facilitators.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"A descriptive-correlational design was used, involving 53 facilitators selected via random sampling. A researcher-designed questionnaire measured home learning support and learners' outcomes...a very high positive correlation was identified between home support and learner outcomes." The study measured relationships between home support provision and child outcomes but lacked a comparison group or random assignment to establish causation.
Cross-sectional design prevents causal inference; small sample from single district limits generalizability; study does not compare to learners without home support or different types of support intensities
