The problem
Intervention: Community-based health worker engagement, vaccination reminders, and outreach services to increase vaccine uptake
Who it was tested with: Caregivers of children aged 0-59 months in Konye Health District, South West region Cameroon (412 participants surveyed).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"A community-based cross-sectional mixed-methods study was conducted from March to May 2023 among 412 caregivers of children aged 0-59 months. Quantitative data were collected on sociodemographic characteristics, vaccination status, while qualitative data provided in-depth insights into caregiver experiences and contextual challenges." This design measured associations between caregiver characteristics and vaccination status at a single time point, without a control group or temporal sequencing to establish causation.
The cross-sectional design cannot determine whether identified factors cause vaccination completion or result from it. No comparison group or control condition was used. Qualitative data came from only three focus group discussions and purposively selected key informants, limiting generalizability of contextual insights.
