The problem
Intervention: 10-week parent-mediated home-based rehabilitation program with parents trained on exercises and activities tailored to each child's needs and routines; parents received supervision at two scheduled sessions
Who it was tested with: 10 children aged 5-12 years with diplegic cerebral palsy classified at GMFCS levels II and III.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This prospective, non-consecutive case series aims to analyze the effect of a 10-week parent-mediated home-based rehabilitation program on participation, gross motor function, balance, functional independence, engagement, and functional outcomes in 10 children aged between 5 years and 12 years with diplegic CP." The design measures the same children before and after the intervention using multiple validated outcome measures, with mean scores showing improvement across all domains.
Case series with no control group, small sample size (n=10), no follow-up data on long-term sustainability, and inability to isolate the intervention effect from other factors
