The problem
Intervention: Six weekly nurse-led sessions combining play-based early stimulation and structured parenting education
Who it was tested with: 200 toddlers aged 36 months at risk of stunting in Tangerang Regency, Indonesia (100 intervention, 100 control).
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"quasi-experimental pretest–post-test control group study involved 200 toddlers" - this design includes a comparison group that received routine care, which fits the experimental tier (quasi-experimental).
Quasi-experimental, so groups were not randomised and differences between them may remain. Short-term outcomes only, from a single regency. Effect sizes were modest. Details of attrition and follow-up are not given.
