The problem
Intervention: A UNICEF-supported nutrition intervention in Agudama-Epie community. The abstract does not describe its components.
Who it was tested with: 202 caregiver-child pairs with children under five in Agudama-Epie (intervened) and Amasoma (non-intervened), Bayelsa State.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Using a cross-sectional design, data was collected from 202 caregiver-child pairs" shows a single-time comparison of two communities with no before-and-after or randomised comparison, so the lowest tier applies and the link to the intervention cannot be shown.
There is no baseline and no random assignment, so differences between the two communities may reflect other factors such as sanitation, income or disease burden rather than the intervention. Only two communities were compared, and no effect sizes are given in the abstract.
