The problem
Intervention: Robot adoption in the labor market (observational exposure, not a designed intervention)
Who it was tested with: Chinese children aged approximately school-age, drawn from China Family Panel Studies 2012-2020.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"we construct an instrumental variable for domestic robot adoption using U.S. robot data and employ a two-stage least squares (2SLS) approach", which is a quasi-experimental approach using exogenous variation to approximate causal inference from observational data.
Observational design cannot establish causality definitively despite instrumental variable approach; reverse causality or unmeasured confounding remains possible. Limited to China and specific time period.
