The problem
Intervention: Migration to areas with higher immigration rates
Who it was tested with: Children and households in Vietnam at cluster level from the MICs 6 dataset (2020-2021 survey period).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This research assesses the effects of migration on child well-being in Vietnam through the mediating role of household welfare at the cluster level... based on the secondary data collected from Vietnam Sustainable Development Goal Indicators for Children and Women survey... using the Ordinary Least Squares regression model (OLS) and the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique." The study used a large national dataset with statistical techniques to test mediation pathways, though the observational design limits causal claims.
Observational cross-sectional design prevents causal inference; cluster-level analysis may mask individual-level variation; direction of causality cannot be established.
