The problem
Intervention: Provision of stock undesignated asthma inhalers to schools through the RESCUE-IL program, with training for school health staff
Who it was tested with: Illinois school children; data collected from 24 trained school nurses across schools that participated in RESCUE-IL.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Semi-structured interviews were transcribed, de-identified, and qualitatively coded in Dedoose. Thematic data analysis using a hybrid inductive and deductive approach based on grounded theory was performed by trained researchers." This represents practitioner-level evidence based on school nurses' real-world experiences with the intervention in its first year of implementation, without a comparison or control group.
Qualitative design based on self-reported experiences from participating nurses only; no quantitative clinical outcome measures or data from non-participating schools; no comparison group; limited to inaugural year implementation
