The problem
Intervention: Learning Initiative on Norms, Exploitation and Abuse radio drama intervention delivered via flash drives to households, coupled with structured household discussion sessions to engage men as caregivers
Who it was tested with: Adult male caregivers in Shinyanga region, Tanzania.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"We conducted in-depth interviews with 18 adult men caregivers before (September 2021) and after the intervention (December 2021) and used thematic analysis and the framework method to examine indications of change in attitudes, beliefs, norms and behaviours." This is a pre-post qualitative design measuring perceived change in attitudes and norms through interviews, without a comparison group or objective behavioural verification.
Small sample size (n=18), no comparison or control group, short follow-up period (3 months), qualitative data only (no quantitative behavioural outcomes measured), and evaluation conducted in one specific region of Tanzania limits generalisability
