The problem
Intervention: Multiple family group (MFG) strengthening intervention delivered through task-shifting by community health workers or parent peers in school settings
Who it was tested with: 2,391 children aged 8-13 years and their caregivers in 26 primary schools in Uganda.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"This prospective microcosting analysis was conducted from a provider perspective as part of a three-armed randomized controlled trial of the MFG intervention involving 2,391 participants aged 8-13 years and their caregivers in 26 primary schools." This is an economic evaluation component of an RCT, but the document provides only cost data without reporting behavioral health outcome effectiveness, making the evidence incomplete for determining whether the intervention works.
The study is a costing analysis only and does not evaluate whether the intervention improved child behavioral health outcomes or achieved cost-effectiveness relative to health gains. Outcomes data are not reported in this document.
