The problem
Intervention: Ecological momentary assessment with concurrent cortisol sampling to examine dissociation as a marker of emotion dysregulation
Who it was tested with: 48 adolescent psychiatric inpatients (mean age 15.85 years, 81% female).
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"participants completed twelve signal-contingent ecological momentary assessments per day over five consecutive days, each separated by one hour, reporting on dissociation and negative affect. Salivary cortisol was sampled concurrently. Data were analysed using Residual Dynamic Structural Equation Modelling." This is an observational pre-post design measuring the same individuals repeatedly over time without a comparison group, making it a PRE_POST tier study.
One-hour assessment intervals may be insufficient to capture short-lived temporal dynamics. No control or comparison group. Sample limited to psychiatric inpatients.
