The problem
Intervention: Improved documentation and facilitation of child participation in child protection case decision-making processes
Who it was tested with: Children aged 0-18 involved in child protection cases in Swiss child protection agencies.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"Analyses are based on a sample of case files of n = 264 children in five Swiss CPS agencies. Outcomes and predictors were extracted from case files with a predefined coding system." The study uses systematic analysis of real case data to identify predictors of whether children's voices are documented in protection decisions, finding that family poverty significantly reduces the likelihood of participation.
Study is based on documented case information only, which may underestimate actual participation; limited to Swiss context; no baseline or comparison groups for understanding change over time
