The problem
Intervention: Mentorship Learning Method training for cadres: instructional sessions, discussion, demonstration, role play, redemonstration and intensive mentoring, with educational materials
Who it was tested with: 24 Posyandu cadres, 8 pregnant women and 2 village midwives in Indonesia.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"Evaluation was conducted using pretests and posttests with a 20-item knowledge questionnaire, as well as observations of participants' skills before and after the program." This measures the same group before and after with no comparison group, so it is a pre-post design.
No control group, small sample, skills results not reported in the abstract, no outcomes for mothers or children, and no statistical testing reported. Knowledge gain was measured immediately and may not last or change practice.
