The problem
Intervention: Evidence-based clinical communication strategies including training workshops, SMS and WhatsApp dissemination of evidence summaries, development of communication protocol, posters, and reminder systems for caregiver appointments
Who it was tested with: Children under 5 years and their caregivers in Bali Health District, Cameroon, served by health workers at participating facilities.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"The project was conducted in seven phases: identification of practice area for change, engaging change agents, readiness assessment, baseline audit, implementation of change strategies, follow-up audit, and planning for sustainability." This describes a structured pre-post implementation design measuring the same facilities before and after intervention, with no comparison group.
No comparison group was used. The study measures compliance with communication practices rather than direct immunization coverage rates. Sustainability of improvements was not formally evaluated beyond the follow-up audit.
