The problem
Intervention: Community-based parenting empowerment program implemented by faith-based organizations to improve nurturing care
Who it was tested with: 510 mother/primary caregiver-child dyads in Kenya and Zambia.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"The study will employ a cluster-randomized control trial design and will use a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative and qualitative methodologies" with "two-arm study, where the first arm will participate in the parenting empowerment program implemented by the faith-based organizations, while the second (control) will not receive the parenting interventions." This represents an experimental design with randomized comparison groups, though results are not yet available.
This is a study protocol with no results reported. Actual effectiveness cannot be evaluated from this document.
