The problem
Intervention: Training session and distribution of practical tools to maternity care staff on BCG vaccination indications and circuits
Who it was tested with: Maternity care workers in two maternity wards in Toulouse, France.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"A second evaluation was conducted after a training session and the distribution of practical tools, to measure their impact on caregivers' knowledge and involvement." This describes a pre-post intervention design where the same caregivers were measured before and after the training and tool distribution, with questionnaire scores demonstrating improvement in knowledge outcomes.
This is a single before-after comparison with no control group. The study was limited to two maternity wards in one city. No long-term follow-up of knowledge retention or actual vaccination rate improvements was reported.
