Who it was tested with: Children in informal settlements in Chennai, India, living with vulnerabilities including poverty and marginalisation.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This qualitative study is part of a larger project where a DRE intervention was co-developed and delivered by children in the informal settlements in Chennai, India, using a participatory approach. This project used qualitative methods including interviews and focus group discussions with children who co-developed the intervention, their parents and staff members of the collaborating Non-Government Organisation (NGO) to understand their experiences." The study documents stakeholder perceptions of how active child participation in designing and delivering disaster education affects their confidence and mental well-being.
Qualitative design without comparison group; relies on perceived rather than measured impacts; no quantitative mental well-being metrics; study context limited to one location in India
