The problem
Intervention: FIT FIRST 10: high-intensity, inclusive multisport activities delivered in primary schools
Who it was tested with: 1050 Danish primary school children aged 7–11 years (controls n=413, intervention n=637), stratified by sex and parental country of birth.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This subgroup analysis included 1175 children aged 7-11 years from 27 schools. 1050 had information on sex and parental country of birth (control: n = 413, FF10: n = 637). The analytical sample for the primary outcome (cardiorespiratory fitness) comprised 798 children with complete data for all variables included in the adjusted model." The study examined intersectional effects of an intervention across defined subgroups using a comparison design, making it experimental evidence, though the differential effects and mixed outcomes indicate the intervention works differently for different groups.
Incomplete data for primary outcome (798 of 1050 children); subgroup analysis with reduced statistical power; cannot determine mechanisms for differential effects or optimal implementation strategies
