The problem
Intervention: Brief single-session internet-based programme for grief, co-designed with young people
Who it was tested with: Children and adolescents aged 6-18 years experiencing grief.
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"In feedback from recent trials of internet interventions for grief, youth emphasised treatments should be shorter to address lack of time, which was the main barrier to uptake." The protocol was specifically designed based on youth feedback identifying time constraints as a barrier, and will use a randomized controlled trial design with comparison group to evaluate the brief intervention's impact on mental health outcomes.
This is a protocol paper with no results yet reported. The actual effectiveness and outcomes of the intervention remain to be determined.
