The problem
Intervention: Child Protein Score (SPMB) as a screening and assessment tool for protein quality and stunting risk
Who it was tested with: 109 children aged 6–59 months in North Lampung, Indonesia (49 stunted, 60 non-stunted).
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"A cross-sectional study was conducted among 109 children aged 6–59 months in the working area of the Kemalo Abung Public Health Center, North Lampung, using consecutive sampling." The study validates an assessment tool by comparing protein scores between already-identified stunted and non-stunted children, demonstrating the tool's discriminative ability.
Cross-sectional design limits causal inference. Small sample from single health center may not be representative of other Indonesian populations. Cannot determine directionality of the protein score–stunting relationship.
