The problem
Intervention: Structured teaching program (STP) on immunization schedules and vaccines
Who it was tested with: 50 mothers of children under five in Sanarpalayam, Namakkal District, India, selected via purposive sampling.
The same group is measured before the intervention and again afterwards, with a baseline and an endline and sometimes a midline. Change is visible, but other causes cannot be ruled out.
"A quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed, involving 50 mothers in Sanarpalayam, Namakkal District, selected via purposive sampling. A structured questionnaire with 30 multiple-choice questions assessed knowledge." The study measured the same group before and after the educational intervention to evaluate its effectiveness on maternal knowledge of immunization.
No control or comparison group; one-group pretest-posttest design cannot determine if improvements were due to the intervention or other factors; purposive sampling limits generalizability; no follow-up measurement to assess knowledge retention.
