The problem
Intervention: Strengthened CEmONC services at a Community Health Centre, including emergency case management, a telephonic follow-up system for high-risk pregnancies, respectful maternity care through innovative discharge practices, and strengthened institutional delivery services
Who it was tested with: Pregnant women and newborns attending CHC Faridpur, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India.
Experience from people who deliver programmes: stories, case studies and lessons learned. Valuable for understanding how and why, and for spotting what to test next, but not a measure of effect.
"This case series describes five representative maternal health interventions undertaken at Community Health Centre (CHC) Faridpur" - the design is a descriptive case series of selected cases without a comparison group, so it counts as practitioner experience and cannot show effectiveness.
Selected cases from a single facility, no comparison group, no quantitative data in the abstract, and a risk of selection and reporting bias. The claim that outcomes were 'substantially' improved cannot be verified from this text.
