The problem
Intervention: Maternal nutrition education with a booklet, plus 14 days of purple sweet potato supplementary feeding
Who it was tested with: 60 mother-child pairs, with children aged 12-36 months (30 pairs in each group).
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"This quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group study involved 60 mother-child pairs, with 30 participants in each group." This design includes a comparison group, so it counts as experimental, but with no results reported the direction of the effect cannot be judged.
Small sample of 60 pairs, a short 14-day intervention, non-randomised allocation, and no results given in the abstract.
