The problem
Intervention: Two evidence-based interventions: (1) group cognitive behavioral therapy (G-CBT) focused on cognitive restructuring and strengthening coping skills; (2) multiple family group (MFG) intervention to strengthen family relationships and address stigma
Who it was tested with: Children aged 10-14 living with HIV and their caregivers in Uganda (N=90 child-caregiver dyads across nine clinics).
Children or communities are compared with a group that did not receive the intervention, or followed over years. This is the design that best separates what the intervention did from everything else that changed.
"This three-arm cluster randomized control trial, known as Suubi4Stigma, will evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary impact of two evidence-based interventions." The study design is experimental with randomization at the cluster level and comparison arms, but no outcome results are available from this protocol document.
This is a protocol paper describing a planned pilot study. No outcome data are available, as the study had not yet been conducted at the time of publication (registered August 2020). Results of the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary impact will only be known upon study completion.
